About:

Shahadat Hussain, PhD
Dr. Shahadat Hussain is a Research Associate in Mechanical Engineering at Khalifa University (Abu Dhabi, UAE), specializing in advanced materials and additive manufacturing solutions. Holding a PhD in Materials Science & Technology and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, he brings deep expertise in metamaterial design — particularly TPMS lattices (Primitive, Gyroid, and interpenetrating phases) — fabricated via laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) and other techniques including FFF for green steel composites, SLA, PolyJet, and robotic wire DED.
His work focuses on overcoming key challenges in shape memory alloys (NiTi, Cu-based), microstructural optimization, mechanical performance under bending/tensile/fatigue loading, and data-informed process control. With access to state-of-the-art facilities (EOS M400, Raise3D Pro3, Instron 5969/MTS 100 kN, JEOL/FEI SEM/FIB, Bruker/Rigaku XRD, Setaram/Mettler DSC), he combines experimental rigor with computational tools (Python, MATLAB, ANSYS, OpenCV, Scikit-learn) and AI/data science applications.
Dr. Hussain has authored 15+ publications (including in Materials, Journal of Manufacturing Processes, Progress in Additive Manufacturing), accumulated over 450 citations, and serves as a peer reviewer for leading journals in additive manufacturing and materials science. He is certified in Additive Manufacturing (Arizona State University), Data Science (IBM), AI Essentials (Google), and Python (University of Michigan).
Positioned at the intersection of academia and industry, he offers contract research, consulting, process development, testing services, and collaborative R&D to accelerate innovation in high-performance materials.
